Apple will be forced soon to go all in with USB-C for charging as the EU is about to issue a directive making this a requirement for any chargeable device sold within the EU market. As wireless charging and thus wireless only charged devices aren't covered by the directive the alternative may be the portless iPhone. I do not expect this to happen as it will break SW development on iPhones with some frameworks supporting test devices connected by USB only. And there may be no WLAN available when one wants to test software on an iPhone. In companies WLAN and the network your Mac is connected to will be most likely seperate networks. It would be a bummer to be forced to set up a Mac as an WLAN hotspot just to support SW development, if that is even allowed for IT security concerns.

So it is most likely USB-C for all devices including the Macbooks aside the Apple Watch which is charged wireless only. This may kill Magsafe again and this time for ever. Chargers as well will be required to feature USB-C plugs within the EU, so one USB-C-to-USB-C-cable may be sufficient to charge anything. So is that your dream? It isn't mine.
