Excellent observation and analysis skills.

You got me thinking about why do people in the USA fall so easily for a cult or wishful thinking in general? Dave Voleks comment adds to it.

From the outside (I live in Germany) the USA looks like a very loosely tied society where the rights and the duties to live ones life are given to the individual only with no duties whatsoever imposed on the society as a whole to help each member to live his life. So a US citizen is effectively living alone, fighting his life's problems alone with the only thing the society does for him is to protect him from wrong-doing of other individuals, if at all. Maximum freedom, minimum social service. It's all yours to decide, it is all yours to handle any problem in life coming up.

But a human being is a social animal and wants to live in a community which promises survival regardless of what's happening. If the society does not give that promise at all like the USA does, people will go looking elsewhere to get this promise. And that is where church communites and cults come in. And Trump.

Just thinking. Am I wrong? Probably. Totally wrong? Maybe not.
