Maybe for a reason. Signal for Desktop is an Electron app too but does not hit the battery on the platforms I am using it. No comparison to let's say, Spotify, which I suspect to be an Electron app as well. I just looked it up: an idle Spotify was responsible for 50% of energy consumption on my mac Mini M1 within the last 12 hours - which would be while I was sleeping.

I don't like the framework as it is based on the worst excuse of a programming language ever created, but I understand why people are using it. It is one of the few frameworks that allow you to develop apps for practically all environments from a single source: Web, macOS/Windows/Linux, Android, iOS. That looks like a big saving of development costs by using it.
